It's no secret that the modern music scene has become saturated, with thousands of songs being released a day, yet somehow Cameron Winter manages to grab your attention and hold it throughout the entire length of his new album, 'Heavy Metal'.

Born in the back of a taxi in uptown New York, Winter has always been surrounded by the rich and diverse sonic landscape. This is obvious when listening to his album. Each song is expertly crafted with a variety of roguishly chosen instruments blending and flowing seamlessly. His delicate piano skills, raw and unfiltered vocals accompanied by Winter's signature trembling voice are reminiscent of the acclaimed vocalist Isaac Wood, the previous frontman of Black Country, New Road.

These three tracks on the album are particularly outstanding: Love Takes Miles, Nausicaä (Love Will Be Revealed), and $0, which is my personal favourite. Winter's lyrics reveal a man struggling with self image, isolation and a need to prioritise people's feeling over his own. These lyrics and captivating vocals are captivating and devastating. They will swallow you whole.

However, this album does have it's flaws. Songs like Try as I May and We're Thinking The Same Thing are littered with static repetitiveness and dull melodies.

To conclude, this album is fresh, transformative, and brilliant. My words can't describe or justify the journey that it will take you on. Definitely worth the listen.
